What AT&T Customers Need to Know About the Massive Hack, Data Breach

The latest high-volume data breach was recently announced via AT&T; according to reports, a hacker was able to access call and text message data from nearly all AT&T wireless subscribers. While this excludes text message content, it’s unknown whether the information includes phone numbers of contacts, call frequency and duration, and possible location data. This breach particularly highlights the concerns of third-party cloud storage providers and the security of personal data, as all information was stored on Snowflake’s platform. In an article for The Wall Street Journal entitled "What AT&T Customers Need to Know About the Massive Hack, Data Breach," Alyssa Lukpat explains:
“AT&T said the hack covered nearly all of its wireless customers. A customer was likely affected if he or she was a subscriber between May and October 2022, the dates on the stolen records. The records also include information about landline customers. The database would have also included some customers of mobile brands that use AT&T’s network, including Cricket Wireless, Consumer Cellular and Tracfone.”
It’s important to keep in mind that while these types of data breaches are becoming more prevalent, there are also ways to protect personal information against these attacks. Fr0ntierX protects sensitive data throughout its entire lifecycle – whether in storage, in transit, or during processing. Our patent-pending architecture minimizes attack vectors through robust access management and state-of-the-art cybersecurity in order to decrease vulnerabilities and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of user data.
